Fore Aces Cup Standing Through July 2019

July 13, 2019 Tournament Summary

Complete details

Hello golf people!
It was actually not too hot at Wente on 7/13, but the wind certainly kicked up in the afternoon.
We played a team Stableford points format for the 12 of us who made it.
I actually thought our team was in a great position after the front nine. We didn’t have any hole where our team failed to score a point so I thought we were leading. Unfortunately, after we made the turn and saw the other groups after the 10th hole, I found out we were in last place! By a large margin!!!
Ah well, that’s golf.
One hint: if John Rhee gives you yardages, beware…you’ve been warned
Second hint: double check your scorecard to provide the proper totals, otherwise you won’t receive full rewards!

Team SJ 178 points: Suntae, John Kim, Francis, Joungki
$120 prize for Team SJ as Winners took all!
Team SRRMC 121 points: John Knight, Chuck, Ryan, Mitch
Team Peter 111 points: Peter, Peter, Steve, John Rhee

Closest to pin sleeves of balls went to Ryan and Suntae.
Money shot closes to pins at $60 each went to John Rhee and Peter LaBreche.

Congratulations to all the winners!!

Thank you to all of those who are able to participate in the first major of the 2019 season. The wind was challenging. The greens were even more challenging. But all in all, it was a gorgeous day.
A significant amount of movement occurred for the leaderboard of the Fore Aces Cup after this tournament. There were extra points awarded since this is a major.
I also hope that you enjoyed the team game format that we played, “Ham and Ham” with individual hdcp stroke allocation. Since I ended up in last place, we’re never playing this format again! Actually, it was a lot of fun and I enjoy the team aspect as well as rewarding good shots and holes. It was interesting to see the strategy of the teams. There were a couple of instances where a team scored -4 on a single hole!! Awesome!!!

Fore Aces Cup Standing Through September 2016

Gents,
Our standings have not changed much after our September tournament.  Suntae has moved into the top 5, but Erwin has opened up a bigger lead heading into the club championship and will be very difficult to catch with only one event left.
Cheers,
John

Fore Aces Cup Standings Through August 2016

Gents,

Here are the cup standings through Monarch. Pete Yang moved up 3 spots with his win at Monarch and is now in the top 5. There are two events left to crown the Champion Golfer of the Year. We could end up with our first repeat cup winner this year.  http://www.foreaces.com/current-standings/

Next tournament is Saturday, Sep 10th at Coyote Creek. Ryder Cup format should be fun. Please make sure to RSVP.

Thanks,

John

Welcome to the 2016 season!

Dear 2016 Fore Aces Golf Club Members,

Welcome to the 2016 season! Welcome returning members and a special welcome to our new members John Rhee, Chuck Wen, Paul Yun & Michael Kim — super glad you guys are joining us! Hope everyone had a good off-season and was able to spend time with family, friends and swing coaches during the holidays.

While you were working hard on your short games, we (the Board) have been working on the 2016 schedule (http://www.foreaces.com/). We have a full calendar which will include events at the renovated Poppy Hills and at Poppy Ridge for the Club Championship. I think you will enjoy the venues & tournament formats, and I sincerely hope you can make it out to as many tournaments as possible. Honestly, YOU make the tournaments fun, and it’s your participation and banter that makes our gatherings worthwhile and memorable. So I hope you are able make space in your busy schedules and have some fun with us once a month.

Our tournaments are individual stroke play events based on net score. Based on order of finish, members earn points toward our season long competition – The Fore Aces Cup. (Tip: you receive bonus points towards the Cup the more tournaments you play). Last year’s winner, John “Apple” Kim, is our Cup Chairman for this year. He locked in the prize convincingly with a four-putt on the 18th of the Club Championship at Poppy Ridge. We also use the Cup standings to determine the teams to represent us for NCGA tournaments later in the year.

Each event also has an informal team competition determined by the tournament host. Details will be provided in the tournament Evite. We have a Ryder Cup style East Bay vs. South Bay match every year with bragging rights and dinner on the line. South Bay won last year, and boy was that victory sweet (and savory). In addition, we also have prizes for closest to pin and the Money Shot – where everyone kicks in $5 and closest to pin takes it all!

Details:

We will email tournament invitations to club members via Evite (or the equivalent) 3-4 weeks prior to the event. Most events will have about 16-20 spots. You need to RSVP on Evite and submit your payment to secure a spot for the event. Payment options:

A. PayPal (preferred) to foreacesgolfclub@gmail.com. Choose option “Send money to friends or family” to avoid transaction fees.

B. Check (must be received at the club by the deadline stated in each invite)

Fore Aces Golf Club
2121 Carmenere St
Danville, CA 94506

Members may invite guests. If a member/guest needs to cancel at the last minute, they are responsible for finding their replacement. All registrations will cut-off a week prior to the event.

The 2016 Board – Steve Lee (Handicap Chairman), John “Apple” Kim (Cup Chairman), Suntae Kim (CFO & webmaster), and me (President).

Let us know if you have any questions. Looking forward to this season and to seeing you guys in February for our first event!

Cheers,

Erwin
